Young professionals and the young-at-heart gathered at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens on Saturday, October 14th for Fur Ball 2023: Into the Wild, presented by TPG. The event, which returned after a hiatus of nearly four years due to the pandemic, was expertly chaired by Zoological Society board members John Flynn and Marie-Claude Nadeau, under the auspices of “Zoo II,” a group of younger Zoo enthusiasts. Guests donned festive “bring out your wild side cocktail attire,” and danced the night away, while enjoying animal encounters, nighttime carousel riders, an open bar, and the hottest food trucks around. Proceeds from Fur Ball benefit the Zoo’s wildlife conservation programs.

On Sunday, October 22, over 100 philanthropists descended on the spectacular Djerassi Resident Artists Program property in the hills of Woodside, overlooking the Pacific Ocean for the annual Artful Harvest fundraising gala. The world-renowned artists residency, celebrating its 40th anniversary, has provided the gift of time and space to over 2,500 artists. The program was founded by Dr. Carl Djerassi, father of the birth control pill, in memory of his daughter, Pamela, a Stanford-trained artist who studied under Nathan Oliveira.
