M Stark Gallery Opening Reception

After weeks of winter storms and road closures, Half Moon Bay was treated to a beautiful day of sunshine and a bright new addition to Main Street—M Stark Gallery. The new contemporary fine arts gallery represents Marianna Stark’s love of her native Bay Area and devotion to its contemporary artists. The grand opening party drew a festive crowd that included Half Moon Bay locals, Bay Area artists, art collectors, and members of Marianna Stark’s vast circle of friends and colleagues from San Francisco and Oakland.  More than 100 guests spilled out into the front yard and sidewalk and lined the front staircase to witness the ceremonial ribbon cutting, conducted by the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce. The newly…

Treat Yourself to a Chase Center Theater Box

San Francisco has long been known as a theater town. Opera, symphony, and Broadway shows are for the taking, nearly any time of year. So it was only a matter of time before a new kind of theater experience emerged within the City’s most exciting new entertainment venue, the 18,064-seat Chase Center.

Best known as the home of the Golden State Warriors (whose sellout games leave fans clamoring for tickets), the venue also hosts a number of additional marquee events throughout the year. More than 200 concerts, shows, cultural and sporting events provide egalitarian opportunity for all to experience the state-of-the-art arena, for which its art collection alone is worth a visit. Exclusive interviews with four international bestselling authors

Authors’ words, like genies, trapped within the pages of their books lay dormant until we open them, releasing the glorious sagas that reside in their sentences.

Authors invent alternative realities. They have the incredible ability to make the written word create fantastic, mysterious, tragic, and humorous tales that sweep us off to other worlds. They help us find hidden truths and sometimes let us get lost in the fantasies they create. We become attached to their fictitious characters as if we know these people. Who hasn’t walked past Tiffany’s and thought about Holly Golightly or wanted to throw a party as extravagant as Jay Gatsby? The best part is that we get to enjoy…

Exclusive Breakfast at Tiffany Experience

I have been a member of the San Francisco Opera Guild’s board of directors since 1995, and I support the annual fundraising event at the Spring Fashion Show and Auction, hosted by Neiman Marcus, by purchasing one particular auction item: a trip to New York Fashion Week to attend an iconic fashion designer’s show, take a tour of the atelier, and interview that designer for my magazine’s spring fashion issue.

This year, the auction package included an exclusive “Breakfast at Tiffany” experience at Tiffany & Co.’s store in New York for 10 guests plus a $2,000 credit toward a dream piece of Tiffany jewelry. I was a big fan of the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961, when I was a little girl dreaming to go to…

Napa’s Lighted Art Festival

Art after dark

It had been a while since I casually meandered through the streets of Napa. On that particular afternoon, the streets were crowded and festive with an infectious electric energy. It was the eve before the Chinese New Year. Street performers, drum troupes, and traditional Chinese dragons banged to the beat to celebrating the upcoming new Year of the Rabbit, symbolizing wisdom, power, and wealth. One couldn’t help but feed off the energy in the crowd.

Restaurants overflowed with customers, and the evening was crisp and cool. Thankful for the break in the weather, locals and visitors alike took to the streets in hopeful anticipation of what was to come. However, it wasn’t only the anticipation of good…

An intimate evening with Andrea Bocelli and family

Nestled in a 4-acre, park-like setting in Burlingame is the stunning historic Kohl Mansion, which was the setting for a once-in-a-lifetime evening of music and fine dining with operatic superstar Andrea Bocelli on December 2. The evening benefited the educational programs of Festival Napa Valley and the work of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, founded in 2011 and through which Bocelli leverages his deep connections and bonds of trust to help some of the world’s most disadvantaged people, children, and communities.
