The 28th Annual Stepping Out To Celebrate Life™ Gala, The Beat Goes On, was held September 23, 2023 at Marin Center Exhibit Hall in San Rafael.  400 guests helped raise over $425,000 benefiting Bay Area nonprofits that provide direct and emergency services and financial assistance to underserved breast cancer patients. The highlight of the spectacular evening was an inspirational fashion show featuring 27 local models thriving after breast cancer.

On Friday, September 22, Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen and the San Francisco Symphony kicked off the Symphony’s 112th season together and Salonen’s fourth season as Music Director, with a celebratory Opening Night Gala. The Gala concert featured Richard Strauss’s Don Juan, Gustav Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer, and Anders Hillborg’s Rap Notes. Bay Area society came dressed to the nines to celebrate Edward Winger’s ‘Another Trip Around the Sun Birthday Ball’ in the glamorously decorated Veranda Ballroom at the Four Seasons hotel in San Francisco.

Guests arrived to a pre-dinner cocktail reception where they noshed on Peking duck spring rolls and ahi tuna poke bites and sipped on festive libations while posing for fun animated flip books from ‘A Flying Camera’ photo booths (that guests took home as a souvenir of the night) and photos were snapped of guest’s with the birthday boy Edward Winger and Aubrey Brewster – who hosted the evening’s jocund fête.

On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Salesforce presented Dreamfest, a benefit concert for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals held in conjunction with its annual Dreamforce conference, at Chase Center in San Francisco. Grammy award-winning band Foo Fighters headlined the event and nearly $6.5 million was raised for the hospitals.

The evening began with a cocktail reception where actor Matthew McConaughey and former Golden State Warrior and UCSF Board Member Andre Iguodala presented the 2023 Colin Powell Medal of Courage Award to 22-year-old UCSF patient Selah Kitchiner. Each year, the hospital awards the special medal to a patient who has demonstrated outstanding courage, empathy and/or leadership during their treatment process.

WildCare’s 2023 Gala was a brilliant event, and the organization’s most successful Gala ever! It raised nearly $500,000 to help WildCare provide care for injured and orphaned wild animals, and educate and advocate to protect wildlife and our shared environment.  

Held on September 9, 2023 in the Hoytt Theater at the Marin Osher JCC, it was a glamorous evening! The wine was excellent, and the Gala’s gourmet dinner by McCalls delighted guests with a vibrant and completely vegan culinary experience.

The Misalignment Museum hosted its first donor event on Aug 10th, featuring an exclusive DJ set by Grimes, AI Generated cocktails, AI art, and a Shoggoth dancer. This event kicked off the Misalignment Museum’s new San Francisco location at the Chase Center, home of Thrive City and the Golden State Warriors. On September 6th, dignitaries, arts leaders, and special guests gathered at the American Conservatory Theater’s Toni Rembe Theater for the world premiere opening night of HIPPEST TRIP – THE SOUL TRAIN MUSICAL. Jessica Silverman wass thrilled to celebrate the gallery’s 15th anniversary. In its third location with a staff of ten people and a roster of almost thirty artists, Jessica Silverman hosted a pop-up exhibition on the fifth floor of 615 Grant Avenue which opened on August 19. Titled A Growing Season, the exhibition explores maturation, transformation, and advancement with a range of new and commissioned works from gallery artists.
